2020 Fall League Club Plan

Hello parents and players in the soccer community,

We are wanting to provide an update for info and to share our season plans moving forward regarding the rather unpredictable COVID environment.

It has been great to see our phenomenal VanCity SC players back on the pitch,  working with their teammates, and all the parent support.
Also, let's give a huge thanks to our Covid-19 planning committee, coaches and staff volunteers for their hard work!  They have been working diligently for months on this issue. Many zoom meeting hours, paperwork, phone calls, touching base with the county, School Districts, and the league. They worked hard creating our "Return to Play" safety and field guidelines, coordinating with all the agencies above, which keep our players safe while giving them field time, created and provided training plans for players and teams during this difficult time.

Here is an overview of VanCity Soccer Clubs plan for the Fall Season

1.  Plan A - PSPL (Puget Sound Premier League) Fall Season
a.The PSPL is part of the Puget Sound Premier league, serving all of Washington and nearby metro areas. Currently, based on current data, the PSPL league have set a
tentative return to league play date for the league of Sept 26th, pending Phase 3 announcement. We have decided to fully pursue the PSPL vs the Oregon leagues, as Washington estimations look more promising than Oregon at this point.
All leagues will not open until their is a clear path, plan, for all registered players to be safe to play soccer ***
*ALL club plans are tentative based on the States Guidance and reopening plan, and may be subject to change at anytime*

·      b. League FeesJust like last season, refunds will be given/credited to teams. - Last season, we were fortunate to have almost all our teams play at least 80-100% of their Spring League games. The PSPL had pro-rated/credited teams whom missed any additional games, no hesitation. We have been very fortunate to be a part of this league.
*** The PSPL has committed to Clubs that they will fully refund all league registration fees if the Fall season is cancelled before the first game and that they will pro-rate credit to teams for games not played after the start of league play***

     c. Team Fees -  players only pay what they play. Each team manages funds accordingly. Most teams are making monthly pymt plans to be able to adjust as information rolls in. If a team ends up not playing a tourney, planned event, league, etc.., team managers will refund all players funds accordingly and/or adjust to other team plans. No coaches / staff are paid, which further keeps costs low.

·    d.It must be noted that we are still unsure as to if there will be Fall League and/or further delays due to the recent spikes and upsurges in Washington and Oregon. VanCity will continue to communicate openly with all of you in light of any changes in our options and related announcements from Governor Inslee about COVID-19 and its impact on our start dates.

2.  Plan B - This is where we will provide only training for the Fall Season and return to play in the PSPL Winter 2020 / Spring League 2021.
If this option is implemented, team budgets will be further adjusted to reflect the training only scenario. (Just like during the summer, re-budgeting tournament cancellations).

Some of you may have seen other clubs have a 3rd scenario for a scrimmage tournament style plan. We currently do not need to plan that scenario at this time, as we only need to be in Phase 3 to play in the PSPL / Washington League. The scrimmage tournament plan also needs to be in Phase 3 as well, so we would not choose that option over the PSPL Washington league.

Finally, and importantly, our club believes in letting players choose where to play, without pressure, and giving the opportunity to explore options. This helps players see where they could see their development grow. Whether with our club or another. Players FIRST.

During this time, any players that have not committed to a team are open to continue to attend VanCity SC trainings.
We will continue to follow our "Return to Play" guidelines. For Phase 2, this means communicating with coaches attendance (add name to interest lists), to plan safety protocols accordingly. Once players find their fit, at that time they can commit and move forward with team registrations, so their prospective club/teams can plan.

*Click HERE to add your name to the Interest List*   -   Teams will continue to hold open training / assessments until rosters are full.
